Mit seinen Dokumentationen schrieb er Fernsehgeschichte, seine Bücher waren alle Bestseller.

In seiner Autobiografie verknüpft er die Zeitgeschichte mit dem eigenen Leben, was zeigt, dass er immer zur richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort war.
